Multimove®

4-6y  /  7-10y

Regular exercise is good for everyone, especially young children. Children between 3 and 8 years old are in a crucial phase of development. Their motorical skills are in full development and therefore they should be encouraged to exercise a lot more than others. Good motorical development ensures that children remain active later in life.

  • Multimove® wants to stimulate the basic motor skills of young children in a pedagogically sound and scientifically based way. The basis for
  • Multimove® was the subject of a university study by UGent, VUB and KU Leuven into the motor skills of young children in Flanders, and the influence of many and varied movements on those motor skills.
  • Multimove® offers 3- to 8-year-old children a varied exercise programme, in which the focus is on the general development of skills and a sports branch is not immediately recognizable.

During challenging movement situations in the Multimove® lessons, the 12 fundamental movement skills are discussed. These are all basic skills that a child needs to acquire at an early age in order to stimulate and promote motor development. All movements that a child will use now and later are based on this. The basic movement skills are crucial for learning sports-specific skills later in life.
Multimove® underlines the importance of broad motor development and can be the start of a healthy and lifelong sports and movement participation. Pleasure is central to this.
These are all 12: dribbling, sliding, lifting and carrying, climbing, rotating, hitting, jumping and landing, kicking, pulling and pushing, catching and throwing, walking and running, and swinging.
